Problem Statement
Let me start by acknowledging that the use of AI and the management of Microsoft 365 environments may be a sensitive topic for some people. At the same time, I think everyone in our industry is aware of the direction the world is heading. For example, we’re already seeing more and more RMM and PSA tools integrating AI support. Perhaps it’s still a bit early to let AI automatically perform actions in Microsoft 365 tenants. However, it could be incredibly valuable for support staff to quickly retrieve information about a customer’s tenant via a chatbot. It would be great if CIPP could start exploring AI integration.

This is a good idea...Giving the free & paid versions of Copilot a MCP endpoint to work with CIPP could be really interesting for MSPs and maybe their customers. Microsoft is leaning hard into MCP right now and an MCP registry will be built directly into Windows. I will wire up a MCP proof of concept app and try to implement a couple of MCP tools for read only actions in my fork to test the feasibility of this.
