Current behaviour
I have been using BoostNote desktop version on mac for about 6 months now, until recently (since 7 days approx), I have been getting this error where BoostNote app crashes in about 2 secs after it starts. I had checked my internet connection which works fine with other apps. When I reload or Force Reload BoostNote opens and I could see my notes, but again after 2 seconds it crashes which results in a blank screen.
When I start the app and simultaneously I run the console, the error appears after 2 seconds on the console which states "DevTools was disconnected from the page. Once page is reloaded, DevTools will automatically reconnect." However it does not reconnect automatically, even after leaving the BoostNote open for hours. Below are the screenshots:
Expected behavior
The BoostNote app should continuously work as normal and not crash.
Steps to reproduce
Please refer above notes and screenshots.
Environment
Desktop/Web
30th Oct 2020
Have updated Boost Note to Version 0.10.1 (0.10.1) -
Restarted my system - but still the same issue.

Hi, is this still happening?
Can you give more details about what did you tried already? (complete reinstall of app, another user account, etc)
Can you make a gif on your actions for the above screenshots? (opening the app, reloading, waiting for crash)
@ManojDaswani commented on GitHub (Nov 25, 2020):
Hi Team,
Yes it is still happening.
I had installed the BoostNote on iOS which is working, but BoostNote on my Mac, which has been set on local storage, the below problem still persists and I cannot use BoostNote at all. I am afraid and unsure, if I uninstall BoostNote on my Mac which has all my notes would be deleted, so I have not yet uninstalled it. If you could confirm that my local storage could be restored after I uninstall and reinstall I am happy to do that.
I have made the .mov on my actions for the screenshots I had provided which shows from opening the app, reloading/force reload and the crash.
I would expect my data to be stored somewhere when I delete the app to reinstall, so that I could restore my Mac Boostnote local storage which I have made for several months, and do not wish to delete them when I am uninstalling and reinstalling Boostnote on Mac.
Please have a look and kindly revert back with your solution.
Many thanks
Manoj
The below gif file could be accessed via Safari browser.
@Komediruzecki commented on GitHub (Nov 25, 2020):
Hi Manoj,
It could be something with particular installation. So for file storage, you chose some folder where notes would be saved, that is they are on disk somewhere, so you can backup them (find them, and see if they are there in their raw format, inspect them to see that everything is there). If you copy them to safe location, they will not be lost. Given that, you can try reinstalling the app. To find the notes, try remembering where you saved it or search it with some utilities, if this is local rather than file system storage, maybe they are somewhere in tmp/appData/whatever is that on mac folder (/var/tmp?).
Before that, can you share the gif with some link? I don't have safari and here on desktop I don't see any links to gif/attachements.
This could be a problem with updating the app, so I advise you not reinstall until you are sure notes are safely saved. Without full inspection of your mac it would be hard to guess as to why this happens, so I can only propose some remote control as to further inspect this issue.
Maybe @Rokt33r can be of more help, since he has more experience with how local storage is handled and if you can easily backup the storage, and look for any other errors for crashing.

Hi,
Even after storing my local storage safely and after uninstalling and reinstalling boost note the problem persists.
Could you send me your Boostnote link for your team for me to join Slack so that I could DM you.
Thanks
Manoj
