(Transferred this issue to the new BoostNote.next repo)

Could you try running the installer with administrator priviliges?

I just tried but with the same behavior.

Maybe some requirement of the installer?

Do you have any previous installations of BoostNote.next?

As for requirements, the installer should get write permissions to your AppData folder, but admin privileges should take care of that.

Hmmm, starting to run out of ideas. Maybe try downloading the installer again, or using the installer on a different Windows machine?

Temporarily disable your firewall before running the installer

With the firewall disabled the same thing still happens, but if I install it on another machine it works perfectly...

@Viskovitz Could you try looking into differences between the systems that could cause this malfunction? Maybe some anti virus?

also, you might have corrupted files on your machine from a failed installation that compromised future installations. Delete all folders named boostnote or similar in %appdata% if available

@arcturus140 I already did it, but it's still the same.

@Flexo013 aparently there are no differences between both OS: Windows 10 home, with same anti virus and same firewall setup.

I also tried stopping the firewall, but the installation process was stopped at the same point.

The same happened to me just now. I cant install the app at all. At the same time I feel like I did something stupid right before that, which could have caused it.

  • I installed boostnote.next, then realized I wanted to install boostnote (old version).
  • I located the folder where the boostnote.next is installed and just removed it, without invoking uninstall procedure
  • installed boostnote
  • tried to install boostnote.next side by side with old version to be able to copy my notes from old version to a new one. At this step I hit "30% install" bug.

Now I removed all the mentions of boost note folder on my disk but the issue still there. I appreciate any advice about how to proceed because I feel that at this point I can only reinstall Windows. I just not an option for me.

I found the solution that fixed the issue for me. If you uninstalled previous version of boostnote.next incorrectly (just like I did and described above).

  • Press Win + R (Windows Key + R)
  • Type "regedit.exe"
  • Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
  • In there, you will see one or more folders. Open them one by one to find the one for Boostnote. One of the entries in there should be "DisplayName" with value "Boostnote xxx".
  • Once found, delete that folder.
