Hello,

the scanning animation could be problematic for some users:

because of epilepsy (might cause seizures)
ADHD (might irritate)
Autism spectrum (several ways im which this could have an impact)

There are probably more reasons the animation should be replaced.

The most simple one though would be that it can be very annoying. ;-)
